Best of Mongolia Tour Package 11D 10N Itinerary:

1st Day: Arrive to Ulaanbaatar.
  • Best of Mongolia Tour starts with airport pick up. When you reach hotel, we take you to do all the necessary formalities (like money exchange,…).
  • Hotel placement and dinner.
2nd Day: Ulaanbaatar City tour.
  • After breakfast visit the Gandan monastery, hidden away in traditional and modern surroundings, this monastery is a gem. You can admire old architecture and listen to the monks chanting prayers.
  • Next, explore the cosy National Museum, which gives a very brief but good enough historical insight to understand Mongolia. Surely hungry by now, let’s head for the typical Mongolian lunch.
  • Then, walk over to the Parliament and Sukhbaatar square, take some photos of prominent buildings around. Short walk from the square brings you to ‘The Beatles Monument’.
  • Before sleep enjoy some of the free time, do some necessary shopping or relax at the hotel.
3rd Day: On the wheels to start the best of Mongolian sites.
  • First day out into the country side takes all the way to Terej National Park. Before reaching the park, stop at the mighty and impressive Horse monument with Genghis Khan.
  • When reaching the Terej NP, have some activities within the park – activities will involve some of the walking.
  • Lodge placement and dinner.
4th Day: From Terej NP to the Gobi desert.
  • Finally, today is the day to enter the Gobi desert. After passing several ever changing landscapes you get familiar with ‘notorious’ countryside toilets. Encountering some of the free running horses, goats and sheep, provides deeper insight into the local culinary delights.
  • Once you reach the outskirts of Gobi desert visit Baga Gayriin Chuluu. Since there are only few remains of the Buddhist monastery, enjoy the abundance of the Mongolian nature. Here, birch trees offering shade for some cattle, green patches of steppe with occasional water and vultures flying above. Then, walk to the top to admire the small valley, which looks like canyon and take photos of colourful Buddhist flags contrasting the landscape.
  • At the end, reach the ger camp site and enjoy the open-air dinner. First sleep in the ger.
5th Day: Deeper into Mongolian Gobi desert.
  • Undoubtedly, the greatness of the Gobi desert is becoming more obvious by every drive. Along with little longer drive today and many scenic spots, possibilities of seeing Mongolia’s native Bactrian (two hump) camels are bigger.
  • Towards evening, visit the ‘White stupa’ or Tsagaan Suvarga. First listen to the guide explaining the creation process and try to imagine dragons from the story. After, walk down, but don’t worry about sand getting into your shoes – you are in the desert after all. Wait until the sunset, when the colours of the clay deposits become more eminent, so you can take some really nice photos of Mongolian ‘dragon’.
  • Then find your ger and enjoy dinner.
6th Day: Discover Valley of the Eagles – Yolyn Am.
  • Despite still being in the desert, today you encounter more greenery and if the time is right, you might walk on the glacier. Yes, real glacier in the middle of the Mongolian Gobi desert.
  • First stop is the city called Dalanzadgad, have lunch and do some shopping.
  • In addition to drive today, let’s walk into the Yolyn Am – a deep, narrow gorge. It’s in the Mongolian Gobi Gurvan Saikhan NP, where vultures are constantly in the air. First visit the museum to get familiar with the local environment. While walking hopefully some ibex, vultures, yaks and horses can be seen.
  • Also tonight, you sleep in the ger.
7th Day: Khongor Sand Dune – the singing sand dune of Mongolia.
  • After breakfast the drive takes through some interesting scenery – from main road you turn into the rocky canyons. Moreover, the canyons soon disappear and the horizon opens all the way to the famous singing sand dune.
  • But the drive is not finished yet, since you need to get one of the magnificent views to keep it as a memory of the best of Mongolia tour. Once you reach the Khongor sand dune, it’s time to rest.
  • Before you climb the sand dune and wait for the sunset, experience the Bactrian camel ride. Don’t worry, the camel guide leads the stubborn animal, just relax and enjoy the ride.
  • When the sun sets, slowly return to the ger camp for dinner and rest.
8th Day: The longest drive on your Best of Mongolia tour.
  • At this point, the incredible dinosaurs are waiting to tell their story. But, stop first at small urban area called Bayanzag for local shopping and vibe.
  • After lunch visit the small modern museum in the middle of nowhere to get extra knowledge about the dinosaurs in this Mongolian region. See how the ‘Dino’ eggs were discovered.
  • Then take a stroll on the magnificent Flaming cliffs, reflecting the red iron minerals under the scorching sun. The name is for a good reason.
  • Continue the drive until you reach another ger, most likely toward the evening.
9th Day: Leaving the Mongolian Gobi desert behind and entering the steppe again.
  • Before starting yet another drive, visit the most controversial ruins in Mongolia. It is the saddest part of modern Mongolian history, but must see of the best of Mongolia – Ongiin Monastery.
  • Then another drive, but this time out of the Mongolian desert into the steppe land. Until lunch time you shall reach once the most important hub on the Silk roads – called Karakorum.
  • After lunch explore grounds of the still living monastery Erdene Zuu Khiid. Then drive shortly to reach the ger for the last night.
  • Small local singing and dancing show is available in the evening (small extra charge per person).
10th Day: Back to Ulaanbaatar.
  • Firstly, see the map of Mongolian Empire and the statue of the Giant Turtle.
  • Eventually, as the drive continues and you are approaching the capital, say goodbye to the velvety green hills, lakes, horses and goats. Still you see them on the way, but once you reach Ulaanbaatar eyes only see more of the rushing cars than animals.
  • Lunch to finish the tour is in a typical local Mongolian restaurant somewhere on the way.
  • Last, but not least you have reached the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar or ‘Red Hero’.
  • Hotel placement, after take some time and walk around. Do some last shopping.
11th Day: International flight and the end of Best of Mongolia Tour Package.
  • Accordingly to your flights, the hotel pick up will be arranged.
  • Bye-bye Mongolia, horses, camels, Gobi desert and green steppes.
