Mongolian Adventure Tour Package 17D 16N

Mongolia

Mongolian Adventure Tour Package 17D 16N was created for adventurous souls, who are ready to leave the comfort of the daily life behind. The life in Mongolia is like their landscape – rough, untamed and unique. Drive along the paths without asphalt deeper into the country, discover everchanging scenery and animals running freely around. Everything gives goosebumps; like unique encounters with local people, who barely speak any foreign language, but are able to read every line on your face. Ride the descendants of the horses that carried the Golden Horde and Genghis Khan. Sleep in the ger (yurt), where for centuries people gathered around the fire place and shared tea with local delights. Have fun exploring not so magical toilets in the open areas around the country side – we call them toilets ‘with a view’. Simply forget all the comfort and enjoy the robust journey without any prejudice and expectations.

Mongolian Adventure Tour Package 17D 16N Itinerary:

1st Day: Arrive to Ulaanbaatar.
  • The Mongolian Adventure starts with airport pick up. When you reach hotel, we take you to do all the necessary formalities (like money exchange, small shopping…).
  • Hotel placement and dinner.
2nd Day: Ulaanbaatar City tour.
  • After breakfast visit the Gandan monastery, hidden away in traditional and modern surroundings, the monastery is a gem. You can admire old architecture and listen to monks chanting prayers.
  • Next, explore the cosy National Museum, which provides you a very brief but good enough historical background for exploration of Mongolia. Surely hungry by now, let’s head for the Mongolian lunch.
  • Then, walk over to the Parliament and Sukhbaatar square, take some photos of prominent buildings around. Short walk from the square brings you to ‘The Beatles Monument’.
  • Before sleep enjoy some of the free time, do some necessary shopping or relax at the hotel.
3rd Day: On the wheels to start the real Mongolian adventure.
  • First day out into the country side takes you all the way to Terej National Park. Before reaching the park, stop at the mighty and impressive Horse monument with Genghis Khan.
  • When reaching the Terej NP, have some activities within the park – activities will involve some of the walking.
  • Lodge placement and dinner.
4th Day: From Terej NP to the Gobi desert.
  • Finally, the real Mongolian adventure starts. After passing several changing landscapes you get familiar with ‘notorious’ countryside toilets. Further on, encountering some of the free running horses, goats and sheep, provides deeper insight into the local culinary delights.
  • Once you reach the outskirts of Gobi desert visit Baga Gayriin Chuluu. Since there are only few remains of the Buddhist monastery, enjoy the abundance of the Mongolian nature. Here, birch trees offering shade for some cattle, green patches of steppe with occasional water and vultures flying above. Then, walk to the top to admire the small valley, which looks like canyon and take photos of colourful Buddhist flags contrasting the landscape.
  • At the end, reach the ger camp site and enjoy the open-air dinner. First sleep in the ger.
5th Day: Deeper into Mongolian Gobi desert.
  • Undoubtedly, the greatness of the Gobi desert is becoming more obvious by every drive. Along with little longer drive today and many scenic spots, possibilities of seeing Mongolia’s native Bactrian (two hump) camels are bigger.
  • Towards evening, visit the ‘White stupa’ or Tsagaan Suvarga. First listen to the guide explaining the creation process and imagine dragons from the story. After, walk down, but don’t worry about sand getting into your shoes – you are in the desert after all. Wait until the sunset, when the colours of the clay deposits become more eminent, so you can take some really nice photos of Mongolian ‘dragon’.
  • Then find your ger and enjoy dinner.
6th Day: Discover Valley of the Eagles – Yolyn Am.
  • Despite still being in the desert, today you encounter more greenery and if the time is right, you might walk on the glacier. Yes, real glacier in the middle of the Mongolian Gobi desert.
  • First stop is the city called Dalanzadgad, have lunch and do some shopping.
  • In addition to drive today, walk into the Yolyn Am – a deep, narrow gorge. It’s in the Mongolian Gobi Gurvan Saikhan NP, where vultures are constantly in the air. First visit the museum to get familiar with the local environment. While walking hopefully some ibex, vultures, yaks and horses can be seen.
  • Also tonight, you sleep in the ger.
7th Day: Khongor Sand Dune – the singing sand dune of Mongolia.
  • After breakfast the drive takes through some interesting scenery – from main road you turn into the rocky canyons. Moreover, the canyons soon disappear and the horizon opens all the way to the famous singing sand dune.
  • But the drive is not finished yet, since you need to get one of the magnificent views on this Mongolian adventure. Once you reach the Khongor sand dune, it’s time to rest.
  • Before you climb the sand dune and wait for the sunset, experience the Bactrian camel ride. Don’t worry, the camel guide leads the stubborn animal, just relax and enjoy the ride.
  • When the sun sets, slowly return to the ger camp for dinner and rest.
8th Day: The longest drive on your Mongolian Adventure tour.
  • At this point, something exciting is waiting – the incredible dinosaurs. But, stop at small urban area called Bayanzag for local lunch.
  • After lunch visit the small modern museum in the middle of nowhere to get extra knowledge about the dinosaurs in this Mongolian region. See how the ”Dino” eggs were discovered.
  • Then take a stroll on the magnificent Flaming cliffs, reflecting the red iron minerals under the scorching sun. The name is for a good reason.
  • Continue the drive until you reach another ger, most likely toward the evening.
9th Day: In the middle of the Mongolian Adventure tour.
  • Before starting yet another drive, visit the most controversial ruins in Mongolia. It is the saddest part of modern Mongolian history, but must see – Ongiin Monastery.
  • Then another drive, but this time out of the Mongolian desert into the steppe land. Until lunch time you shall reach once the most important hub on the Silk roads, called Karakorum.
  • After lunch explore grounds of the still living monastery Erdene Zuu Khiid. Later see the map of Mongolian Empire and drive to the ger for the night.
  • Small local singing and dancing show is available (extra charge per person).
10th Day: Volcanos and lakes of Mongolia.
  • Since Mongolia is famous for lakes and volcanos, today you will visit and hopefully climb the Khorgo volcano. So the chance to climb it is going to be in the late afternoon. It offers view all across the White lake.
  • During the drive Gobi desert is all forgotten, because the steppe is constantly changing to velvety green covered hills all to the rocky volcanos and gorges. It’s a very scenic drive until you reach the ‘White Lake’ or locally know Tsaagan Nuur.
  • Once you reach the lake, you will be appointed the ger and after placement the dinner arranged.
11th Day: Insight into the Mongolian city.
  • Due to shorter drive today, spend more time just trying to communicate with locals.
  • As you reach city of Muron on the bumpy drive across steppe, the accommodation today is with nice possibility of hot shower. After lunch, free time to walk around typical Mongolian town.
  • The guide can take you to the local market, to see what they sell. Mostly, everything has some connection with the Mongolian pride – horses. Admire colourful traditional hats and outfits (called deel), in addition see how cute is the furniture for the traditional ger.
12-13th Day: Two nights by the Khovsgul lake – the ‘Mediterranean’ of Mongolia.
  • Clearly the northern most point of the Mongolian Adventure deserves a little more time to spend in the area. After you reach your accommodation many activities are possible.
  • After coming to the suburbs of muron visit the protected Uushigiin Uvur deer stone  (UNESCO).
  • Of course you can choose as many as you like: boat ride, swimming, cycling, walking, horse ridding (small additional fee is required for some). Just enjoy staying at the Khovsgul lake.
  • Meanwhile you meet and greet the reindeers, local ladies with their handicrafts and perhaps some shamanic practices. Also, get familiar with the special Mongolian game, where future can be predicted from the goat anklebones (game is called shagai).
14th Day: Head out to the longest Mongolian river – Selenge.
  • Unlike the previous days, today whole journey stays on the asphalt road. Despite the fact that you will return to Ulaanbaatar soon, there are still some interesting hidden parts of the nature to see.
  • First among the sites is staying in the camp site next to Selenge river. It’s the longest river in Mongolia. This time the stop is longer to relax, otherwise the journey would be too tiring for you.
  • Just take afternoon off – sleep, relax or stroll around the area.
15th Day: Amarbayasgalant Monastery.
  • First is going to be an early start today, so the major site doesn’t close before you reach it.
  • After many kilometres on the asphalt roads, old mining towns and lunch the cars turn offroad again. Only few bumpy kilometres left, but it feels longer.
  • Suddenly among the velvety green slopes, the valley opens. Undoubtedly one of the scenes to remember: white gers like mushrooms, horses and goats running wild, shepherds on motorcycles after them… Finally you see a big white stupa with Buddha’s protective eyes and the monastery Amarbayasgalant on the velvety green patch of land.
  • First visit the monastery with our guide, just walk around and take in the smell of the burning incense.
  • Next you will be appointed to your last ger on the Mongolian Adventure tour package, also the last dinner cooked by our guide waits for you tonight.
  • Before the dinner, walk up to the stupa and admire the views. Soon you are going to be back in the big city with no such impressive views.
16th Day: Back to Ulaanbaatar.
  • Eventually, say goodbye to the velvety green hills, lakes, vultures, horses and goats. Still they are on the way, but eyes see more of the rushing cars than animals.
  • Your last lunch on the tour is going to be in a typical local Mongolian restaurant.
  • Last, but not least you have reached the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar or ‘Red Hero’.
  • Hotel placement for last night of the tour, after take some time and walk around. Do some last shopping.
17th Day: International flight and the end of Mongolian Adventure Tour Package.
  • Accordingly to your flights, the hotel pick up will be arranged.
  • Bye-bye Mongolia, horses, Gobi and green steppes.
